The 3 Key Ingredients to Attracting Wealth
In 1960, Napoleon Hill wrote the classic motivational book, Think and Grow Rich (TAGR). Even though it was published nearly 50 years ago, it was ranked #7 on "The BusinessWeek Best-Seller List" of the current top 15 best-selling paperback business books earlier this month. I frequently recommend it to my clients. It's a powerful yet simple book about how focused, positive thinking opens the doors to achievement and success. But I always felt that Hill got the title completely wrong. It's definitely a great catch phrase but it's incredibly misleading. You can't simply sit in your office all day, thinking about what you want. In order to "grow rich" you must cultivate at least two more critical ingredients. First and perhaps most importantly, you've got to have the right beliefs. If you think the thought "I will build a multi-million dollar company," but you believe it will never happen, you will find all kinds of ways to sabotage your efforts. At best, you face an uphill battle riddled with countless roadblocks and struggle. Ask yourself now, "What do I truly believe about my success?" Despite what you "think", do you fear that it's impossible, scary, too much work, or doomed to fail and disappoint? If you don't identify, acknowledge, and actively take steps to change any negative beliefs, all the "thinking" in the world won't do you much good. However, investing the time to create a solid foundation of beliefs that line up with your vision will pay off in a very big way. Once you strengthen your thoughts and beliefs, you still need one final ingredient in order to create amazing results. Can you guess what it is? Here's the full equation: Thoughts + Beliefs + Action = Results. One of my favorite bloggers, Andy Wibbels, recently wrote about the Law of Attraction, which Hill speaks about in TAGR: "I think what irks me is all 'the trappings' put around this abundance stuff - the idea that meditating on the results you want focuses your attention on achieving results and forwarding action and momentum - none of this is new or secret or strange. But it is wrapped around this core of 'THINK THIS - GET STUFF'. "I almost feel like the suffix should be 'and then you work your @&$ off.' That always gets left out of the picture - yes you do work you love - you attract the things you need and then...You Work Your @&$ Off." A little off the cuff perhaps, but absolutely true. While Hill effectively illustrated the essential need to possess the right mindset for success, that positive attitude won't amount to much if you don't actually take the necessary actions. The distinction to make is, once you identify what you truly want and have a clear, unwavering vision of where you want to go, working your @%$ off doesn't feel so much like work anymore. Can it really be this simple? Take this week's challenge and test drive it yourself.=================== Link and Grow Rich Take a few minutes to link together your thoughts and desires with your beliefs and actions. Answer the following 4 power questions to get a clear picture of where you stand regarding the Law of Attraction.
